I’m curious to see how other primary teachers are structuring their maths lessons. For example, do you start with a number talk/review then explicit teaching of a concept before group and independent work? Are you doing maths rotations? Do you start with a story as a way to introduce/review a maths concept? I would love to hear what is going on in your classrooms!

I structure most of my math lessons as follows for a year 1/2 class:
    1. Number Talk which aims to review or introduce a concept.
    2. Explicit Teaching of the concept (I do)
    3. Develop understanding of the concept together (we do)
    4. Independent practice. This can be individual, pairs or maths rotations.
