⭐ Skip Counting in Twos – What This Activity Is About
This activity helps students practise skip counting in twos using a fun, visual context: pairs of socks. Students count the total number of socks, work out how many pairs there are, and use the repeated pattern of “2, 4, 6, 8…” to build fluency with early multiplication concepts. The visual grouping of socks makes the pattern easy to see and supports students who learn best through concrete and pictorial representations.
Students design their own pair of socks to be used for a classroom display. Peg students’ sock designs on a ‘washing line’ in the classroom and have students skip count out loud as they count the pairs of socks.
